About the Original Shopping Districts

Founded in 2006, the Original Shopping Districts’ goal is to increase the exposure and awareness of the historic shops, unique merchant offerings, services and the events throughout our member districts. The Original Shopping Districts is a not for profit organization.

Since our inception we have completed a branding process, formed our legal entity, written operation bylaws, conducted rollout meetings in each of the member districts, created this web site, created the, “Adventures In Shopping” enewsletter and we will soon be printing our first 100,000 brochures. These brochures will be distributed throughout each member district, the Denver International Airport and in other strategic tourism locations.

The Original Shopping Districts’ plan is to have a national impact. This national exposure will provide for the attraction of visitors to our districts from a national audience. As well this presence will aid in the recruitment of new member districts throughout the United States to our organization. We hope that ultimately travelers who recognize our brand will seek out and visit other member districts in other cities. For these shoppers, they can count on us as resource for best historic shopping anyplace they go. For merchants, we will generate more visitors and more awareness. As well, by combining resources, our member merchants enjoy the benefits of shared knowledge and better overall economics.

All members of the merchant’s associations for each member district are automatically members of the Original Shopping Districts. Therefore they enjoy the publicity and full reach of our marketing campaigns.

The Original Shopping Districts is funded through payments made to the organization by member districts (initial membership fee and annual dues), advertising sales, special events and sponsorships.
