Welcome to The Original Shopping Districts!

There's a special feeling you have when meandering in an historic district and it's different for everyone. Maybe it's the excitement you feel when you make a little discovery. Maybe it's the sense of belonging to a community. Or maybe it's good old nostalgia...remember when....?

No matter what your personal experience feels like, visiting an historic district is a special every time. The Original Shopping Districts is a collection of areas in and around Denver. They all have common elements such as:

♦ shopping: quaint and sophisticated

♦ dining: ethnic cuisines, pubs and fine dining

♦ professional and personal services

♦ health providers: yoga, Pilates, massage and nutrition

The Original Shopping Districts are Olde Town Arvada, Historic Downtown Golden, Historic Downtown Littleton and Old South Pearl Street.

arvadaA central location near I-70 and Wadsworth Boulevard offers an easy drive to Historic Olde Town Arvada from most metro locations. Olde Town is a vibrant shopping district which not only creates a memorable experience for all but preserves history for future generations. A mix of shopping, service providers, night clubs and eating establishment makes this a great destination. Olde Town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has the prestigious National and Colorado Main Street designation.

Golden

Table Mountain provides the famous backdrop of this small yet busy town. In addition to a college and the renown Coors brewery, Golden boasts ten museums covering the interest spectrum. Western artifacts and style are offered in the district's shops. There is a wide range of dining options including brew pubs, night clubs and exotic cuisine. Follow Sixth Avenue west until it reaches the foothills. You can also take the W Line to reach Golden on the light rail.

 Littleton

Not every suburb has a distinctive history but Littleton definitely has its own story. The historic downtown area, with tree-lined streets and distinctive historic buildings, looks nothing like Denver's high-rise skyline. You can hike or bike the riverside trail along the Platte River or you can get there fast on the light rail. A wonderful variety of shopping, dining and culture makes it the highlight of the southern suburbs. Follow Santa Fe south past Belleview and turn left on Prince Street.

Pearl

South Pearl Street is one of Denver's most charming and popular districts. Stretching from Buchtel to Jewell Avenues, this laid-back neighborhood features an eclectic mix of locally-owned merchants, shops, boutiques, restaurants and pubs as well as seasonal events. South Pearl Street is the antidote to the modern mega-mall. Tree-lined blocks, diverse architecture, real people and one-of-a-kind stores with unique wares. Near the Louisiana Light Rail station, Old South Pearl Street is centrally located between I-25 and Broadway.
